Player Guide: Equipment and Progression
Your gear path from level 1 to the late game: the quests, NPC exchanges, absorbs and upgrades that turn each region's drops into equipment, plus every milestone reward.
How gear progression works
In the classic game of this era, item progression generally jumped between a handful of levels (10, 35, 43, 50, 64, 80, 100, 120). KuroMS adds and reworks a large number of items so you keep progressing all the way from level 1 to level 300. This guide follows that path bracket by bracket: the quests that hand out gear, the NPC exchanges that turn each region's drops into equipment, the items you can absorb or level up, and every milestone reward on the way.
Where to level vs. what to wear: Looking for where to train? The Leveling Guide lists the hunting route for every level band. This guide focuses on what to equip and upgrade once you are there.

Level 1 to 10: the starter package
Players start out level 1 on Maple Road/Ereve/Rien, where they can click the first NPC to receive a special Welcome to KuroMS package which provides a Medal and Ring and Belt along with 5k Mesos, 100 White Pots and 300 Blue Pots.
Players can also create their own Referral Codes to invite friends or enter Referral Codes from friends to receive bonus Reward Credits here. There is also an Ironman/Reboot option for players with the help of Sasuke NPC.
Talk to Sera/Kimu to begin the tutorial, which teaches the in-game commands @help, @dispose, @wd, @wdf and @autopickup. The next NPC introduces the custom widget, and the step after that introduces the main currency, Pitch Perfect, tradable for rare items from Inkwell in the Free Market.
In the tutorial you can try Attack + Move. Nimble Feet is now a passive that increases Speed and Jump by +30 and +10, and Legendary Spirit, Monster Rider, Follow the Lead, Kuro's Blessing and Maker are unlocked at the get go. Heena will then ask you some questions about the server, so be prepared! Afterwards, continue down the usual Maple Island, Ereve or Rien route until level 10 (level 8 for Mages).
Level 8/10 to 30
Once you are level 8 or 10 you can job advance. From level 10 you can claim your first milestone rewards with @milestone (or @ms).
Milestone rewards below are taken from the game server code (verified September 24, 2026). At levels 30, 60 and 100 you receive the secondary weapon of all five class families, so you can sell the ones you cannot use.
- Level 10: Gachapon Ticket, Mushroom House Elf, White Belt, White Potion x200, Blue Potion x300, Pet Food x100
Remember to claim your class medal from Dalair: in KuroMS you can wear 2 medals at once.
Blue Gachapon and early upgrades
Test out your luck with the Gachapon NPC at the FM by pressing the trade button to receive a variety of items. Blue Gachapons were originally a P2W mechanic in the classic game; KuroMS reworked them into a global drop for levels 1 to 40 that includes early game accessories, custom and reworked 100% blue scrolls and Maple Weapons.
The Blue Gacha reward list: early accessories such as Warm Muffler, Spiegelmann's Necklace, White Belt and Maple Leaf.
Vote to get Reward Credits, claimable at the KIN NPC, and use them in the Cash Shop on Pets and Pet Equipment, which all now cost 100 Reward Credits to smooth out the grind. You also get @town, which brings you back to your 1st Job Instructor town, while you work through your job instructor's early training quests.
During your grind, ores and the custom global drop reworked 100% blue scrolls go directly to your personal storage, which you can open from the Widget or with @storage.

Demon Hat questline and Demon equipment
After finishing your Job Instructor quests you should be around level 18, ready to begin the Demon Hat questline. The Demon Bosses Andras, Crocell, Amdusias, Valefor and Marbas now also drop a Demon Ring, Demon Gloves, Demon Shoes and Demon Weapons to help with early game progression.
Complete the final quest to receive a Demon Hat. These items are all part of the Demon Item Set bonus, which later items such as the Heavy Violetta Cape, Free Spirit Earrings and the Forgotten Hollow face accessory also add to.

Arrows are reworked to be rechargeable, and the custom Arrows and Bullets now have the same Weapon Attack as Throwing Stars.

Level 30 to 40
After completing your job advancement, a lightbulb appears above your character to start the Mushroom Kingdom questline. This region drops King Pepe Tops and Bottoms, which do not require secondary stats. Completing the questline unlocks the Heavy Violetta Cape, which also adds a bonus to your Demon Item Set.
Continue with Blake's Dream questline next. Its final reward, the Free Spirit Earrings, also adds a bonus to your Demon Item Set.

Regions also start to provide global drops for exchanges that support early game progression: Lucky Day Scrolls, Silver Gachapon and a variety of Vicious Hammers at the Luma NPC.
Silver Gachapon focuses on level 40 to 80 equipment such as Alien items, Maple Weapons and old-school items, with a variety of the custom 60% scrolls.
Scroll priority: 60% scrolls play a major role in your leveling journey until around 4th job. Focus on Glove Critical Rate scrolls and Earrings Critical Damage scrolls first.
