How to join KuroMS, the classic v83 Pre-Big Bang project: create a free account, install the Kuro launcher, make your first character, unlock the Discord and make the most of your first hour.

Before you start

KuroMS is an independent v83 emulator project: classic Pre-Big Bang gameplay on Windows, played through the Kuro launcher. Joining takes three things: a free website account, the launcher, and a character created in-game. Everything below comes straight from the Download page, the Register page and the Discord access page.

Step by step

  1. 1. Create a free account: Go to Register. It takes about a minute and costs nothing. You need a username (4-12 characters, starting with at least 2 letters), a valid email, and a password (6-12 characters) typed twice. Tick the box to accept the Kuro Terms of Service, then press Register. Your website account is your game login: register once and use the same username and password in the launcher.
  2. 2. Download the launcher: On the Download page, press Download Launcher (about 10 MB) to get kuro-launcher.exe. The launcher handles automatic game updates, game settings configuration, file integrity verification and one-click game launch. If you prefer to download the full client manually, or have issues with the launcher, the Alternative Download section offers a Google Drive mirror and a Download dinput8 Fix button. The site recommends the launcher for automatic updates and easier installation.
  3. 3. Install and first launch: Run kuro-launcher.exe from your Downloads folder. The launcher automatically downloads and updates all game files. When it is done, click Play in the launcher and sign in with your website username and password.
  4. 4. Log in and create a character: Characters can only be created in-game, so make your first one right after logging in. Back on the website, sign in to track your characters and Reward Credits from your dashboard. You need at least one character to receive vote rewards.
  5. 5. Unlock the Discord: The PlayKuro Discord is reserved for registered players. Follow the three steps on the Discord access page: create an account (or log in if you already have one), then on your dashboard click Connect with Discord and authorize. The Member role is granted instantly and the full Discord server opens up. If you link before joining the server, the dashboard tells you to join, and access unlocks automatically when you do.
  6. 6. Optional: Trusted IP access: Your dashboard sidebar has a Trusted IP access page under account security. It lets you request approval for the direct IPv4 address you regularly use; requests are reviewed manually by staff before the address is added to the trusted access list. Apply from the network you want to use for the game. VPN, proxy, WARP, relay and shared networks may be submitted. If your IPv4 changes, you can request a replacement, and your current approved IP stays active until staff approves it.

Common issues

  • Antivirus warning: some antivirus software may flag the client. This is a false positive: add Kuro to your antivirus exceptions.
  • Connection issues: make sure your firewall allows Kuro.exe. Try running as administrator if you have connection problems.
  • Missing files error: install Visual C++ Redistributables and DirectX 9.0c if you get missing DLL errors.

Your first hour

  • Claim your Daily Login Rewards. Everyone shares one global 14-day reward cycle that advances at midnight server time (JST/UTC+9). Claiming on 7 different days within a calendar week (Sunday to Saturday) earns a personal weekly bonus, and 6 weekly bonuses (not necessarily consecutive) unlock the 6-week milestone.
  • Level milestones: every 10 levels from 10 to 120 gives a reward bundle (scrolls, inventory slots, teleport rocks, secondary weapons and more). Check yours with @milestone.
  • Hyper Teleport Rock at KIN: KIN stocks a 24-hour Hyper Teleport Rock for 5,000,000 mesos, with 3 charges and a world-map UI.
  • Check drops before you grind: @wd and @wdf show real drop rates in-game.
  • Vote daily to stack voting rewards on top of your login rewards.
  • Invite friends: create your own referral code through KIN, Sera or the @referral commands; rewards unlock as your friends reach levels 10, 30, 70, 120 and 200.
