Absorption Guide

Absorb spare copies of an item onto your main one for bonus stats. Regular absorbs give 1 to 2 Str/Dex/Int/Luk/Wa/Ma each, 1 to 6 times depending on the item; Superior items gain 2 to 3 per absorb, up to 4 times.

What absorption does

When you collect spare copies of certain items, you can absorb them onto the one you are wearing to boost its stats. The Player Guide points out absorbable items in several regions, and the late-game Superior items have their own absorb rules below.

We want market prices to stay healthy over the course of the game, so certain items can be absorbed. That way their prices in the Free Market keep their value.

Regular absorb rule: Each absorb gives 1 to 2 Str/Dex/Int/Luk/Wa/Ma, whether or not the fodder item was scrolled. Even an item that failed its first scroll slot can still be used to absorb.

How to absorb

  1. 1. Visit the Absorption Master: The Absorption Master stands at the Free Market Entrance. Bring the equip you want to power up and an exact, unabsorbed duplicate of it.
  2. 2. Choose to absorb a duplicate: Pick "Absorb a duplicate into my equip". "How does absorption work?" explains the rules in game.
  3. 3. Pick the equip that receives the power: The list shows each eligible equip with its slot, its current stats and how many times it has been absorbed, for example "absorbed 0/4 times, max 4 absorbs".

Absorbable items and limits

These items can be absorbed. The number is the maximum number of absorbs per item.

Absorbing spares while leveling

Absorbing is not only for Superior items. The Player Guide calls out these earlier absorbs:

Level 100 to 120: Spare Aquatic Eye items can also be absorbed onto the main one for a boost in stats.

Level 120 to 150: Rings/Earrings can be absorbed when spares are available through Chief Tomato for bonus stats.

Level 150 to 180: Absorbable items here include Golden Flower Ring, Timeless Cape, and Timeless Earrings.
