Beta Phase 2 has been live for 3 days. Here's where we stand, what changed today, and a heartfelt thank you. A NOTE FROM KURO Three days into Beta Phase 2 and seeing 50+ of you online at the same time has been genuinely unreal. The bug reports, the suggestions, the late-night messages - all of it has shaped this patch. I'm exhausted from the marathon of fixes but more accomplished than I've felt in a long time. I know Beta Phase 2 only runs for ~2 months before we go fresh again, but this stretch is already the best version of Kuro yet, and that's because of you. Thank you. I'll be stepping away from the PC for a day or two to recover (unless something breaks). Now - onto the numbers and the patch. BETA PHASE 2 - FIRST 3 DAYS BY THE NUMBERS The Headlines 316 unique players logged in 2,005 hours of total time logged in across everyone (that's over 83 real days of play crammed into 2.5 days) 1,929,466 monsters killed 6,857 bosses dropped 3,599,570 skill activations 1,042,602 buff casts Average session length: 34 minutes When the Server Was Alive Peak hour by skill activity: 14:00 JST - 255,190 casts in a single hour Peak hour by unique players: 10:00 JST - 112 distinct players The server barely sleeps - even the quietest hour (06:00 JST) saw 58 unique players online Top Skills Pressed Heal - 533,130 casts (28,059 per Cleric on average - you all are devout) Slash Blast - 514,035 casts Magic Claw - 291,808 casts Lucky Seven - 201,032 casts Fire Arrow - 171,536 casts (34,307 per FP Mage - the most loyal main of the wipe) Top Monsters Slaughtered Slimy - 329,119 kills (Ghost Ship 2 lives up to its reputation) Selkie Jr. - 117,520 kills Horny Mushroom - 58,080 kills (146 different players - the eternal classic) Stump - 42,101 kills (244 unique players, the highest spread) Top Killing Fields Ghost Ship 2 - 329,063 kills across 52 players Ghost Ship 5 - 117,391 kills across 16 players Henesys Hunting Ground II - 41,048 kills across 145 players (the people's grind spot) Ant Tunnel I - 41,258 kills across 139 players Stickiest Maps Chimney Possessed by the Clown - players hung out for an average of 16m 46s per visit Ulu Estate I - 13m 4s average Ghost Ship 5 - 10m 46s average Class Popularity Most-picked main class: Magician (69 players), followed by Warrior (42) and Thief (31) Most efficient grinders per player: FP Wizards - 28,225 kills per player on average Spearman runner-up: 20,837 kills per player SKILL CHANGES Arch Mage - Ultimates Reworked Genesis, Blizzard, and Meteor Shower are back to their classic single-cast flow - no more charge bar or beam animations They now hit up to 10 monsters across the full map in one cast Damage now falls off by target order: Mobs 1-3: 100% damage Mobs 4-6: 80% damage Mobs 7-10: 60% damage Fire/Poison Mage - Element Composition Fixed an issue where casting Element Composition would crash other players Wind Archer - Strafe Max-level damage increased to 170% (up from 100%), bringing it in line with Bowmaster and Marksman Strafe Wind Archer - Wind Walk Additional damage bonus reduced to 110% (down from 130%) Caster keeps full Wind Walk functionality, but other players see you correctly hidden again - no more visible-but-stealthed Wind Walkers Dawn Warrior - Soul Rush Soul Rush is now an offensive movement skill - it deals damage to enemies in your path instead of being a pure dash Hits up to 3 enemies per cast Damage scales from 60% at level 1 to 96% at level 10 MP cost unchanged (60 → 15 across levels 1-10) Skill description updated to reflect the new behavior Thunder Breaker - Corkscrew Blow Hold-to-charge and the charged push now work correctly Hyper Body - Party HP Party HP bars now display the real boosted HP value when Hyper Body is active (no more capped or normalized display) Dragon Roar / Super Dragon Roar If your HP is at or below 50%, the skill cleanly self-cancels instead of half-firing and locking you up CYGNUS 4TH JOB ADVANCEMENT No longer requires The Heroic Pentagon (Manon) or The Heroic Star (Griffey) Now only requires 30x Dragon Spirit + 30x Dragon Scale (both consumed on advancement) NPC dialog updated with live progress counters: Dragon Spirit x30 (n/30) Note: Explorer 4th job paths are unchanged NEW CONTENT - KUROQUIZ Server Trivia Event Added to the server event pool Opt-in: type @quiz join during the 30-second sign-up window Use @quiz leave to drop out, @quiz status to check your score Format: 15 questions, highest score wins (ties announce all leaders) Answers: @quiz A / @q 2 / @trivia D - accepts A-D or 1-4. 30s per question Aliases: @quiz, @q, @trivia KuroQuiz Widget (in-game banner) Compact one-line header (QUIZ / sender ...... 8s ) with an auto-sizing banner that fits short questions tightly and expands for longer ones Clean 2x2 grid of answer buttons showing full option text Small muted Skip button (renamed from Opt-out) below the answer grid Opt-in notices now show Join + Skip buttons Text input field is hidden during quizzes so buttons are the only input Malformed and placeholder questions are filtered out automatically QUEST ITEM RECOVERY Lost an active quest item from a full inventory? Quest scripts can now reissue missing copies up to the quest's required amount Example: need 30, lost 5 → recovers up to 5 Only quest items qualify; capped by stack size and free slots Equipment and non-quest drops are unaffected QUICK AUCTION → DISCORD New auctions automatically open a thread in the Discord forum channel Threads receive live updates for: new bids, outbids, seller withdrawals, sales, expiries with no bids, and auctions closed by server shutdown Threads auto-delete 5 minutes after the auction ends You can now cancel an auction you placed No in-game auction mechanics changed QUALITY OF LIFE Bosses & Mobs Astaroth HP reduced to 50,000 (Lv. 32 boss) Black Witch HP reduced to 2,500,000 Kerning Party Quest Cloto has been moved up so she's easier to click on when soloing as Iron Man Pet Quests Nella's Dream and Fanzy's Red Furball are now both turned in to Kin Fanzy's Red Furball now accepts the same wide pet list as Nella's Dream - far more pets are eligible Chat Filters (configurable) Two new toggles in chat_config.ini (default on), also toggleable from the widget: showSkillHpWarningChat - hides "You don't have enough HP to use this skill" showSkillMpWarningChat - hides "You don't have enough MP to use this skill" Applies across the native chat log and the ImGui overlay - fully suppressed when disabled VIP Teleport Rock Reopening the VIP Teleport Rock dialog now correctly shows your actual saved expanded slots, not a stale or empty list Name Tag Polish Updated various name color issues BUG FIXES Pets in Aqua Road A couple of pets that previously crashed the client when entering Aqua Road maps now fall back to a safe swim animation instead All other pets correctly show their proper swim animations again Stability Fixed additional crash points and enhanced crash logging - players can now send logs for review after a crash Launcher auto-login no longer fires on the wrong screen (world/character select, PIN/PIC dialog) and waits for the login form to be genuinely ready before submitting Alt+F4 / window close now exits cleanly instead of force-terminating, so crash reports show the real cause of any earlier fault LAUNCHER & WEBSITE Launcher Update Launcher design has been updated to fit all screen sizes - no more cutting off at the top or bottom Please redownload from https://playkuro.com/download Website Quest Rankings have been added: https://playkuro.com/rankings Please patch using the launcher before logging in.
